Even when Ponce de Leon arrived in Florida, he could not help but remark
on the beauty of the exotic plants and flowers that call Florida home.
Today, many visitors to the area stand in awe at the overpowering beauty of
the exotic plants and flowers that dot the countryside.
The flora and fauna all over the beautiful state of Florida can be
fragrant or just beautiful. Some of the flowers extend from vines such as
the Hoya, Wax Plant, and Porcelain Flower. These magnificent flowers come
in an array of styles and are very fragrant to give you not only a tropical
look and feel but the aroma as well.
All the Hoya plants are very beautiful with blooms in a star shape. They
offer a globular cluster that is not in a uniform pattern. Some of the most
popular seen around Florida include Hoya cummingiana, Hoya kerrii, Hoya
Obovata, Hoya compacta panache, Variegated Rope Hoya, Variegated Hindu
Rope, Hoya carnosa exotica, and Hoya carnosa tricolor. All of these have
unique and beautiful star shaped blooms in clusters with vines in an array
of styles.
There are many different types of exotic flowers all around Florida but
the Hoya are one of the easiest to identify. The Lotus, which is a sacred
flower in Hinduism and Buddhism, dots the countryside. This flower can be
seen in winter as well as all seasons and grows wild even though many
people do not realize this. This flower is one of the most beautiful around
especially when you can view it growing in its natural habitat.
Other aromatic exotic flowers found in Florida include Sweet Olive,
Camellia, Tea Plant, Orchid Cactus, Queen of the Night, Magnolia Coco,
Plumeria, Champaca, Banana Shurb, Ylang-Ylang, Kenanga, and Dwarf
Ylang-Ylang. The Ylang-Ylang blossoms are used to create Channel No. 5, one
of the most popular and sought after perfumes in the world.
If you decide to hike while you are visiting Florida, you are sure to
find many interesting and intriguing exotic plants everywhere you look.
Some of the items you will notice include Cherry flower, Bubble-Gum Plant,
Ginkgo Biloba, Asian Pear, Sunburst, Hardy Orchid, Hardy Bamboo, Japan
Fern, Wisteria, Hardy Lotus, Chinese Redwood, Hardy Bonsai, Quince, J Maple
Cutleaf, Tamarix, Chinese Orchid, Yellow Lilac, just to mention a few of
the various exotic plants and flowers you may encounter along the trail.
One awesome tree you will see all over Florida is the Cabbage Palm,
Sabal palmett. This magnificent tree is often ignored, as it is one of the
most populous trees scattered throughout Florida. However, it is of course,
a sign of the tropics that can be left without some recognition.

matter where you travel throughout Florida, you will enjoy the various
exotic plants and flowers that can be found. From such beautiful flowers as
the Hoya to outstanding Chorisia speciosa, you are sure to find beauty in
every direction you look.
